Default Help with Yamaha 150 - oil leak

I have a 2004 Yamaha 150 2 stroke. I noticed an oil leak the other day and would like help finding the source of the leak. It is a 2 stroke so there is no motor oil. The oil that is leaking is not the same color as the 2 stroke oil I put in the oil tank. I do not think it is related to fuel. It is an amber color like normal automotive motor oil and thicker than 2 stroke oil. The leak is minor - no puddles or anything, just residue that has leaked down the outside of the motor. The red marks on the photo indicate where the oil is leaking and where it has settled. The motor runs fine and I have not noticed any performance issues.

Can anyone help? Is this a crisis and I shouldn't use the boat until it is fixed or can I wait and fix it later in the season? I don't want to miss the last half of summer while my boat sits in a repair yard, but I also don't want to create a bigger problem. Thanks

I had a slow leak in my tilt and it sprayed fluid on the engine. It took a while to figure out that was the problem. If it is not that then I don't have any suggestions. Good luck.

With the thousands of Yamahas out there no one has had this problem? That seems hard to believe.

Well right above the area noted is the engine oil tank.
I would suspect that is your culprit.
Do you tilt it up for storage? Full right or left and up.
or tilted Down.
Check various things with that tank and system.
float switch at the top ,it is a push on. Some prople wrap a tie around it.
Hoses to --from oil tank, drain nipple,
Individual oil lines from oil pump to each cylinder.

Last time I checked ,crap rolls downhill .

I have the exact same motor/year and have not had the problem, sorry. The oil has to be from one of the places mentioned unless you had excess grease on the engine that is slowing liquefying now that it is warmer. Which would be less likely than a leak.

Thanks. I store the motor tilted down. I took off the cowl and didn't see anything obvious. I checked the oil tank and it did not notice any leaks. The color is different than the oil in the tank. I'll conduct a more thorough investigation and look carefully at the hoses.
