Default Tidewater owners? Tidewater 19 bay sea trial - need advice for decision soon

Hi all,
I've had a couple discussions about this boat recently and today I finally got to Sea Trial it before making my decision.

I'm aware my sales guy may read this, but it's nothing that I didn't bring up with him first and it's been a pretty good experience dealing with him so far.

I really liked the boat. But my main concern(s) is this...

1. - Where the motor enters the water when on plane, it casts a shower of water in both directions straight out and up. Pretty much soaks the back of the boat. None of the water comes into the boat, but like i said it coats the transom and gets the motor cowling pretty wet. Is this normal for a bay boat? Would it concern you?

2. - If I get this boat, my desire was to put a PowerPole on it. So I'm also concerned about this spray of water constantly impacting the side of the PowerPole. Also with the PowerPole deflecting the water spray, maybe then some would be deflected into the boat??

3. - Would a jackplate decrease or prevent this spray? With the setback and lift/lowering capability it could reposition the part of the foot that is causing the spray??

Like I said, aside from this spray, I really liked the ride etc of the boat.

I will say that coming off a boat with Twin Yami F150's, The Suzuki DF140 has a much more "puny" sound, if that makes sense....? It just sounds less beefy, but did push the boat well.

Thanks in advance for your advice

It sounds like the motor simply needs to be raised on the transom. There's nothing peculiar about the boat that could cause that.

I was wondering that. I looked at the mounting position and it seemed to be raised some already.

This is also why I was asking about a jackplate, so i could easily find that ideal height.

the spray u mention could also be coming from the transducer - mine causes a "spray" somewhat like u mention. doesnt bother me nor has it caused any ill effects.

I know what you're referring to. This was definitely not that. Mainly because this is a new boat with no electronics. But what this was could definitely not be confused with that. The spray was split evenly by the motor and was a much more Drenching / Heavy spray than say a "misting".

I'm still torn about this and I'm supposed to give an answer soon. At this point I'm leaning towards removing my claim on the boat so the sales guy can sell it to someone else if need be while I do more research.

I was kinda hoping some other current or past Tidewater owners would chime in....?
