Default How do I access Wellcraft console to install new VHF

Can anyone explain how one can access the console to install a new VHF on the 2006 Coastal 290? My uniden crapped out after only three seasons and we cant figure exactly how to remove the old unit and put in a new unit. No obvious hinges or panels. Any experiences will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not familiar with your exact boat, but most walkaround/express types will have an access panel inside the cabin which will allow you to get at the back of the helm area.

Thanks, but no access panel exists.

I have your boat and know that most units are mounted or screwed in from the front. You really need your manual for the VHF to see where the bolts and screws are. It is the only way. You do have the panel below the steering wheel but unless your arms are 4 feet long you can't reach it.

Sometimes the units are held in by 4200 or you might have to remove another piece of equipment to access the rear of the vhf. If it has a c-series in unscrews from the front and then you can access the rear of the vhf from c-series hole
