Default H2O Lights - Anyone use these underwater LEDs yet?

Just saw an ad in Southern Boating for this company. Stainless housing, low profile and all top shelf components. I'm looking for underwater lights and the choices are endless. Hoping not to have to drop $1,000 on a couple of lights. Boat is kept on a lift so I'm not worried about marine growth. http://www.h20lights.com

I don't know about these lights but I've got a question about any LED lights. LED lights are not supposed to attract as many insects as other lights because their light is a very narrow band in the color spectrum. I know my blue cockpit light barely attracts any bugs at all. Wouldn't this apply to underwater lights as well? Is LED not a good choice for attracting fish?

They look like Abyss knock offs. I say chose a brand that's been around for some time, and you've heard many people using that way you know how they hold up, if the company stands behind their product, etc. You don't want to spend $1K on lights that fail after 6 months and the company is now gone or giving you the round around.

You can't go wrong with OceanLED, Abyss, or a couple other brands that have been around for a while.

I don't think that's accurate... I've got www.coastalnightlights.com on my boat in blue, and they get all sorts of attention from baitfish, squid, etc. They must also have a pretty good UV (blacklight) component to them, as they light up anything that glows.

at that price who cares if they go out of business..... Im sure someone in china knocked em off and their quality is probably as good as all the rest of them for 1/4th the price

I'll get some and report back when I get em installed, hauling out next month

Chris's lights will do the same thing at a fraction of the price. I've had both his white and green lights and they both attract plenty of baitfish.

Price is 1/2 what the AbyssLite's are (and 1/4 of comparable OceanLED's), so they are worth a shot.
Keep in mind Ocean & Abyss started out just like H2O - a new company - while only time will tell if their product is just as good - being a new company shouldn't rule them out - if it did, we'd all still be driving Model T's

Well we just brought these in and we are very pleased with their light output to price ratio! I have a few lights listed and their lumen ratings and their listed prices for comparison. We did all of this research and that is why we chose them. I am only going to list lights under $200.

H2oLights 6 LED 711 Lumen $99.95
Ocean LED A3 200 Lumens $199.00
Coastal night Lights 380 Lumen $99.00
Coastal Night lights 760 Lumen $190

Now that being said there is no way of knowing if any of these lights are being rated correctly since all the ratings are coming from the manufacturers and not an independent agency. A few things I can tell you about the H2oLights.
1. They come with a driver which has to be installed.
2. The driver is not only a driver but also has built in shutoff circuitry to turn the lights off if the voltage drops below 11 volts which is nice if you forget to turn them off.
3. They have to be submerged they cannot run out of the water like some lights due to the high heat levels caused by the lights.

There are definately better lights on the market, however for the price I dont think you could beat the H2oLights. The best way to settle this discussion would be to get one light from each manufacturer mount them all to some sort of board underwater and go back and forth between them all! I am willing to do the testing if the light companies are willing to supply the lights
