I own a 1922 Herreshoff classic. All wood, port Orford cedar planks and deck, bent oak frames, canvas deck, mahogany combing, toe rails, and bulk head caps. The boast was completely rebuilt by Herreshoff specialists to make it safe and seaworthy for agressive racing. Lots of $$$ and time were put into this boat. Fortunately its a 25' skinned out racing sail boat without all the mechanicals of the Rybovich. Its affordable but just barely. Encapsulating wood in fiberglass is not the way to go. Big problems down the road you don't want to know about. Run don't walk away from an old 40' wood boat.
Through a bucket of ice wetter over your head and count to ten and you will come to your senses. Rybovich makes great fiberglass boats - go for a one that you can afford. |
