JupiterAK - 5/20/2004 10:02 AM Newer yamahas will not gain time for the key being in the "on" position unless the motor is running. I have twin 2003's and had to have a tach replaced and the new tach of course shows less hours. Dealer nor TNT members have been able to advise me as to how to get the hours added to the new tach so they both read equal.

Jupiter,
Remove the tach you want to adjust*from the boat. Connect to a battery charger that you will be able to leave on long enough(hours wise) to bring the reading up to what you want. Connect the red and yellow wire on the tach*to the charger positive. The black wire to charger negative. Then the green wire (tach lead) to battery positive. Watch the movement of the hour meter and see if*starts to runcycles.
The hour meter in the tach*looks for any voltage on that green wire to start running. Thats why when the key is on and the engine is not running it does
not gain hours.
Also the cheapest battery charger works the best. One that cycles or pulses. Little cheapo trickle chargers work well.
