Default rail mount help

i have one of these:

the only place i can mount it on my t-top is along a horizontal rail

i'm thinking about using these to mount it:

1" clip to the rail, back to back with a 2" clip for the light
bad idea? any other ideas?

I would be tempted to put some foam tape down on the bar and then use zip ties to snug the light down to the bar.

I take it by Sea_Dad's response that those things are lights? Are they?

sea-dad i thought of that...but the light "swings" in place with the zip ties
i'm hoping the clips will hold it tighter in place
maybe i'll screw the 2" clips into the t-top rail, instead of using the 1" clips

seems to me the sun kills those clips (they look plastic to me) every time. Im would noodle over it a while to get away from plastic.

Im not real sure what I am looking at in the pics.

Could you use some SS hose clamps? They would hold more securely than the zip ties, if the light can handle the clamping pressure.

thanks. email your address and I'll get that check out today ($112).

You can open a hose clamp all the way, at least you can with the kind I have used. It can be a little tricky threading the strap back into the clamp, but it's doable. I think it's a lot easier dealing with the larger clamps because the strap is easier to maneuver back into the clamp mechanism.

How about a U-Bolt around the rail, one at each end of the light, bolted through a piece of teak or Starboard, to provide a flat surface to screw the light to?
