Default Phoenix 33' Convertible

Anyone got any experience with this boat? How does she compare to a 33' Bert or Blackfin? I have heard Phoenix had a good reputation but there are very few of them around here. I went and looked at late one over the weekend. The boat looked pretty decent for a 10+ year old boat but when I banged my fist on the hull sides they seemed pretty thin and tinny...not solid like a Bert or a Hat.

Any info would be appreciated!

Default Phoenix 33

I have owned an 88 33 for 8 years now.Its powered by twin 3208 TAs, with a lot of the usual phoenix options. What a great boat,i fish it as well as cruise with family. It does both tasks great. It may not have the weight of a bert. or hatt, but i feel its an all around better design. It performs great in head, or following seas, and in beam seas it doesnt roll much at all.We have friends who been on all sorts of similar boats ,and said the phoenix has the most usable space. The cockpit is great for fishing, the cabin for living. I am real happy with the boat, and have not had any significant problems since we got it.Try all three then decide ,but you should be happy with the phoenix. Good luck, and if you have any questions send me an e mail. Best of luck from the crew of Hard Labor

Rather than start a new thread I'll bump this one. Going with my brother to look at a 33' tomorrow. What to expect? Know the boats have a fairly good rep - should be similar in layout to an old Blackfin or 33' Bertram SF.

Any known problem areas with these? Transoms? Decks? Leaky Windows?
How is engine access through the cockpit boxes? Tank problems with these boats and the junk gas they sell now? Opinion on motor options gas vs diesel?

Will take a lot of pics and inspect everything I can think of; but always good to get the opinions of others.
