Default Cat Sportfish,... LARGE.

I've seen this boat many times on Lake Washington. Today I had my camera with me. Fortunately, the owner was out on the dock as well, & was happy to answer some of my questions.

It's a Mares Cat,... 97' long with a 32' beam. Named, 'White Lightening'. Forgot to ask him about the power.

For perspective - The Cat next to it is a 34' Glacier Bay, which he owns as well. Said he also tows a 25' cat behind the big boy.

Cheers!

Ah... yes,, The good old days in Rio. perhaps,.. over a glass of claret, I shall tell the stories of Mares, Pro Boat, Rio de Janeiro and Angra Dos Reis..

But for now I shall enjoy the solitude of private memories in a time of romance and beauty.

CLK: Interesting looking boat. How big is Lake Washington? Seems like an awfully large boat for a lake. Nonetheless, nice pics.

Lake Washington is 22K acres & 15 miles long. That doesn't include the other bodies of water connected to it - Portage Bay & Lake Union. This body of water collectively, is connected to the Puget Sound & sea, through the Ballard Locks.

I see more boats over 40' on the lake, than I do under 17'. A lot of these boats are used, not only on the lake, but also in the Puget Sound & throughout the San Juan Islands.

Cheers!

CLK- That boat is a beast. I have spoken to the captain up at Roche and they keep the boat in top notch shape. It summer up North and in the winters it run to Cabo for some fishing. Matter of fact when I was down in December fishing in Cabo the boat was there and it was not just at the dock, it was doing work. Being a Cat and at its size it is supposed to have the same interior volume as a 100+ ft mono hull. It apparently eats up the Ocean as well and cruises pretty fast.

FYI for those that asked. Lake Washington is a mid sized lake that connects via a "cut" to Lake Union that is more of a industrial type Lake which contains the "Locks" leading to the Ocean or should I say Puget Sound.

Lake Washington has all the big spendy home and Lake Union has the marine industrial business along with everything else you could imagine next to a big city. All the big boats like to spend their time resting and getting work done on the Lake in the freshwater. The majority of the Deadliest Catch boat reside on Lake Union and some of the big boats seen in Florida spend some time getting things done on Lake Union.

I keep my boat about 30 miles to the North on the sound in another big marina. The locks make it a chore taking the boat out for just a few hours. I have been down on the Lake to get some work done and it is very cool to just watch the traffic going by.

Sweet Pics.

Here are a few more for NW perspective.

The owner did tell me the boat does time in Cabo.
