Sea-Dad,

Do you have any links to the manufacturers you talked about with the drop in box or pics. The only problem I might have is my box is mounted straight up and down (vertical). There is no slant to help see the guages and electronics???? It is just the flip open plexiglass like you mentioned earlier.

Thanks

Not yet fishin spot. All I have are memories that some boats have them.

About all I can offer is the never ending web search pattern.

I thought about keeping the box like it is and mounting a piece of starboard or something like that up front just inside the opening and slanting it back towards the top. I just might have to flush mount the main electronics gear near the bottom to make sure I can see them while standing. Not sure, I'm still looking like you said.

Thanks

Here's what I did to the helm of my Grady 208. I formed a new fiberglass helm....cut out the old E box....and glassed in the new. Relocated my gauge panel. It has a hatch on top to access the back of the electronics and for storage. Some new trim, garmin 2010c and a morse binnicle are in the works! Maybe redo the gauge panel in mahogony vs. seaboard.

Was checking out the guide poles you made for your trailer and figured I would do the same, ran into a snag though I can't find anyone who sells 3"x6" U bolts where did you get yours?

Some of these ideas on here are incredible!

I made a fishing line spooler.

One 18"X18" 3/4 " plywood. A 1/4 stock metal rod 18" long. I drilled in the center of the ply tapped the 1/4 stock in. I cut some rubber gasket material in (2) pieces, 1" X 1", top and bottom. The line spool goes on the 1/4 stock after one piece of gasket then the other piece on top of the spool. The gasket compresses the spool for the backlash. Heavier spools means I just C clamp the plywood mount to the work bench. Works great! Sorry no pics.

Got em at http://www.overtons.com/

I'm currently working on a 'walkway' mounted on the trailer so that I dont have to set foot on any more slimy slippery ramps!
I busted my buns recently, which inspired me to see what I could come up with.
Will post pics later this week.

I conformed a Rigging Tray and Drawer in the unused space behind the seat. Made from expanded PVC material and Teak. Glued, sanded and then painted to match. I store knives, pliers & rigging tackle so the person sitting at the helm does not have to get up every time to lift the seat. I guess some of us have nothing better to do

Flip-Down Windshield
$46.00 2, 2'X4' sheets of 0.098 Lexan from HomeDepot at $23 ea.
$40.00 fastener/hinges from BoatersWorld

The upper section folds down and is held in place (up or down) by a simple bungee system.

The beauty of this windshield is that the upper section which is the full 2' width only requires $23.00, 2 cuts, 6 holes, and ~30 minutes to replace.

Alot cheaper than the canvas alternative.....

---------------

Flip up Rear Seats to provide access to live wells (boat is a McKee Craft 1800 Pulse)
The hindges were from swim ladders.
The mount is not gel coated yet.
System still gives me easy access to the livewells and lets me use them as a casting platform by keeping the seats out of way.

Pretty cool! Makes me wonder if it would be possible to make a 3/4 wrap-around out of plexiglass for the center console!

Finally finished my walkway! No more stepping on slimy ramps!
1" x 10" with 2" x 4"s sideways underneath fastened to the frame.
Painted aluminum to match the trailer. (Hey it's only gonna get wet for a few minutes at a time!)
The stripes are non-skid tape.
