Default North American Boat Corp. VIN decoding

I am looking to decode the VIN on a North American Boat. I have done a bit of searching on the web and have come up mostly empty handed so I am reaching out to you all.

The VIN goes like this, numbers replaced with x's

NABxxxxxMxxB

NAB is the manufacturers identification, was able to get that much from the web. And as typical the last two x's are the year of manufacturer; in this case 1980.

The model boat is the C-22 Mariner.

Thanks in advance.

Miguel

Not sure what else you want to know.

NAB is the manufacturer as you say.

xxxxxx is the serial number and may be any numbering sequence assigned by the builder. It might be sequential for all hulls, sequential for this model or something totally different.

MxxB indicates it's a "model year" hull and the date is the model year and not necessarily the build date of the hull. B is the month August through July so your B indicatates a September. If the xx between the M and B is 80, most likely your 1980 model year boat was built in September of 1979.

Thanks everyone. I guess I made the mistake of looking for North American VIN breakdown as opposed to generic. My mistake I did not think they were standard beyond the manufacturers initials and the year.

Thanks Again!
