Default More on E-15 ethanol gasoline

According to Boat US; Is there more Ethanol in your future ?
75% of the gasoline in the US is E10 (ethanol 10%). Last month, the Federal EPA was asked by 43 ethanol producers to approve putting 15% (E15) ethanol in gas before required testing has been done to see what it will do in engines, including your marine outboard. There is considerable momentum, political pressure and money behind the ethanol producers to help them get the approval.

The Facts : * Most, if not all, marine engines and car engines and fuel systems are currently warranted to E10. While new engines could be built to a different fuel standard, what happens with the 500 million existing gasoline powered engines in this country? * Small outboards are expected to run hotter running on E15. * Ethanol attracts water, so it's not great for any engines that store the fuel for awhile without use. ( Like your mower, leaf blower, weed wacker, outboard motor, etc )

If you want the EPA to do testing before E15 is the only fuel you can buy, please send an email before July 20. Otherwise, be prepared for some more unpredictability with your outboard and other small engines !

You have until July 20, to let the EPA know what you think about E15 and it only takes about 2 minutes using the link below. ( You may have done this with BOAT US )

Click below to read more about the ethanol issue, including recent NYTimes articles. http://capwiz.com/nmma/issues/alert/?alertid=13199386

Click HERE then scroll down to send an email to EPA: http://www.nmma.org/news/news.asp?id=17669&sid=3

Let's avoid the clump of varnish in our injectors.

Before you even get to E15, look at the recent report on E10.

If you thought e-10 was bad go figure e-15. Not one outboard is ready for it. The link I provided at top of this thread gives you an easy, less than one minute total time, chance to send a comment to the EPA.

We have read about it's problems, let's take action now. Before it turns into a runaway train with us tied to the tracks.

Obama does not care about us and our engines.

The quicker we all accept that and go to the polls in 2010 and 2012 the better off we will all be.

The E15 will end up causing billions of dollars in engine damage both marine and automobile.

I wish there was more we could do but the Democrats control everything until 2010.

I would say it's not just Obama. It seems to me no matter who gets elected we end up with the same. Politicians are in it for the money. Just like everybody else. They care not about you or me.

Just notice how everybody around them gets a pay cut and they quietly get a pay raise.

Let's not kill this posts intent with political backlash.

RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

It's NOT JUST OBAMA, it's all of the OTHER DEMOCRATS TOO!

Facts are facts, and you can't have an ethanol debate w/o stating the facts about who is behind it.

I almost never get involved in political discussions on boating boards, but here goes...

The farm states (ethanol lobby) are RED states, not BLUE states. There is a lot of GOP support for ethanol production/use. This is exactly why there is a good chance that this horrible policy will continue into the future. It has support of both democrats (environmental lobby) and republicans (farm lobby).

Ugh.

You mean the Dems wouldn't support ethanol to try to make the red states "bluer"?
