Default Considering purchase 29 Sea Vee 280 Diesel

Anyone ever own or fish a 29 Sea Vee with a diesel inboard. I am not talking about I/O or Jet drive. Seems the two popular diesel's were B series Cummins or Yanmar 6 Cyl.I have fished a 31 Sea Vee with Twin Verados and was pretty impressed but have found all of the bigger center consoles with twin outboards fall off plane around 28 to 30 and I can't take the beating my back gets running 30 plus in rough seas. Was thinking the Sea Vee with diesel inside the console would not run as fast but would give a much better ride with all of that weight forward. Anyone that has actually been on one let me know about the ride etc. Thanks.

What model year? Those diesel inboard SeaVee's are superb boats -- fuel efficient and good rides . They make GREAT drift boats for live baiting with a kite & flat lines.

As you said, not speed demons; but a good ride. Hope it works out for you.

If you go to the Florida Sportsman Magazine website and their forum. Post your Q's in the "Boating" forum -- you'll get some real specific feedback.

I owned one for just over 3 years but mine had a jackshaft. The boat rides great but can be wet once the seas are over 3 feet. It is by far the best riding center console I have been on but I am sure some of that is related to its cruise speed of 29 knots. The only negative is engine noise and the fact that you have a lot of machinery jammed into a small space so working on things can be a pain. I shed lots of blood and have shown lots of bruises working on my old boat prior to repowering it. If you had any specific questions let me know.

that is a great overall rig. I had a 29 with a volvo diesel. Great overall ride and efficiency. Best rig I have had for wahoo trolling.

On an off diff topic my current 35cc can stay on plane way under 30mph with twins.
