Default nmea 0183 to nmea 2000 LMF-400 gauge

Anway to get a nmea 0183 to talk to a nmea 2000 network?

Bought a Lowrance LMF-400 multifunction gauge. The current model with the RED connectors. Hooking the LMF-400 up to a 2006 Suzuki 115.

I have three GPS units none of which have nmea 2000 output. It would be nice to use the MPG feature of the LMF-400 gauge without having to buy another GPS unit or an antenna with 2000 nmea capability.

Also watch out for the Cabelas $150 LMF-400. They sent me one and it was the old BLUE connector model. Lowrance has been producing the RED connector model since 2007 so Cabelas is pushing old stock.

NMEA2000 is completely different from NMEA183. Maretron sells a converter, but you may be better off (and it may be cheaper) to just buy a NMEA2000 GPS module.

Good people there at Brown's Point for Suzuki parts.

Gosh, two of my GPS units aren't that old and both work great. Garmin 178c and a Standard Horizon 180i.

Might be better off to just put the $142 a reciever module costs towards a new GPS that has NMEA 2000? Seems that getting the MPG numbers out of the gauge could be costly.

Thanks, for the responses.

Def. better off getting the GPS puck.

I have the lowrance LMF-300 for mine.

Did maretron ever come out with thier converter?

Was always pushed back when I was checking on it in 2007-2008.

I bought my lmf-400 from BlueHeronMarine.com. They sell a bunch of Maretron but I didn't see a converter for 0183 to 2000. Might mention they only sell the newer LMF-400 with the RED connectors. $187.50.

Haven't decided yet on a puck or a whole new GPS with nmea 2000 output. I really want the MPG feature even though the cost will probably be more than the gas it will save with a single 115 HP 4 stroke.
