I don't know what made me think of this, but just wondering what other people make ahead of time or take along and make on the fly when you are out fishing?
If I make them ahead of time I find it helps to wrap them in a paper towel before putting in a ziploc to help keep from getting soggy, I hate soggy! YUCK! You also have a paper towel to use.
One time I took a whole muffaletta, that was pretty good because the thick bread held up good, and plus it tasted good (salty stuff tastes better offshore to me for some reason) with the olive salad.
I have one friend who is always asked to make his "fishing sandwiches" because they are so good. He makes them on fresh baked onion rolls (again to hold up better) and some weird combination of meats and creole mustard. They really are good. I got his recipe, but it wasn't the same.
So, what do you guys take out for grub, mainly sandwiches but I'm open to new ideas.
I know potted possum and potted meat with mayo is popular with some folks, but that ain't me!
For me, nothing beats fried cold chicken bought the day before from KFC, Church's, Popeyes, etc.....As far as sandwiches go, my hands down favorite is hard salami and plain old yellow mustard.

I'll stop off at the Yacht Club restaurant an pick up some good fired oysters. Then bring out some really good bread, and some jalepeno mayo sauce and make some bangin Oyster Po'boys.
A little smear of butter or even olive oil on the bread will keep a sandwich from getting soggy.
I like salty meats for my boat rides.
Salami, pereroni, or a few slices of prosciutto on a keiser roll with mustard and provolone.

You should take a stromboli, about ten years ago, we were shark fishing, stromboli got soggy so we threw it overboard. About 20 minutes later we spotted a about 150lb mako swimming in our slick, you guessed it, it took the stromboli and ran off. next time a stromboli is on the boat a hook is going in it.
Cold chicken is hard to beat and for sandwiches,I wrap mine in a paper towel too it helps keep the sandwich fresh and dry and good for cleaning up, sometimes when available I put large fresh tomatoes and/or letuce in a seperate bag and assemble at will. I like flavored tuna from Starkist available in pop top can and foil pouch to keep in the pantry and "ditch bag" for back up when I don't have time or the inclination to prepare ahead of time. Breakfast bars are a good & filling snack with little effort as well. For hand wash before eating or after applying sunscreen etc...I like to keep a container of antiseptic wipes on board along with a small bottle of dish soap.
Leftover meat loaf on toast with a little ketchup. The toast gets a little soft, but still holds it all together. Wash it down with a blueberry vitamin water and all is good
You also need a ziplock bag full of assorted chocolates on the dash at all times.
We used to take fried breaded egg plant sandwiches wraped in plastic. Set them out on the consol in the sun and they would be warm when you ate them. O M G good Lou
I like the same sandwich on the water that I like on land, a good Italian Combo and good crusty bread. Keep the bottle of dressing in the fridge at all times and a jar of roasted peppers handy. These both go on after were out.
We also take out really sharp Provolone and Soppresatta. Sometimes some crackers to go along with this, but always the roasted peppers.
Sometimes if our friends are onboard, we break out a bottle of homeade Barberesco or Barola. These go really good with the above.
These are the only times getting a fish on can really piss you off, they are always shakers and we waste time getting all this stuff cleaned up ready for a fish.
