Default Question re: Boston Whaler

Anyone know if the 2000 Dauntless 16 had any wood in its construction? I'm thinking no, but not sure. Thanks

I can't say for sure about a 2000 Dautless 16 but every other whaler I've ever worked on had wood in it.
Why would they change, it is cost-effective.

Almost all Whalers have wood somewhere. Do you need a wood-locating diagram?

Here's one for the 99 Dauntless, I don't suppose it's too much different for a 00.

Thanks. That diagram helps lots and kinda surprises me too. Appears that most of the wood is small sections, perhaps used for backings? Looks like the transom and other stress bearing locations are wood free.. ?

Most of it is Whaler board which is a type of phenolic material which can hold machine screws and is pretty tough stuff, the transoms are marine plyboard. Whaler has never had a problem with a wet transom as they are fully encapsulated.

Yes, I am on the Whaler payroll they pay me $145,000.00 to ump the boats up,

hahahhahahhahha NOT!!!!!

Thanks. I've sent an email to Chuck (thanks FASTFJR). Evidently there is alot more wood that I would have thought. Looking at the diagram, to me it doesn't appear that the Dauntless has a wooden transom.. Am I missing something?

Go to whaler.com, they have "wood locating diagrams" and will say if it is whaleboard or wood
