Last year I had my Suz 140 mounted to my Sea Pro 190 in the 4th hole from the top. I thought I was getting
too much splash, so this year I asked the dealer to move it up one hole. After two test drives yesterday, I'm not sure
this was a good idea, as there might be even more splash than before; the problem is I haven't piloted my boat since
October, so it's hard to remember what it was like .
So, for those of you who have this boat & engine combo, in what hole is your engine mounted, and are you satisfied
with it?
And, for anyone else who has experience moving engines up & down in an effort to achieve the best and driest
performance, please chime in as well.
the cavitation plate is the "fin"...the widest part of your lower unit
it's the plate above your propeller
i had my yamF100 remounted so that the cav plate was about 3/4" above the keel
dramatically improved performance & effeciency
i am going to do the same with my df140 at the 20hr service next week
PS: go to the suzuki marine website
there are performance reports with a variety of boats that tell you which hole the motor is mounted on...may help a little
currently i am mounted in the second hole from the top
i am going to move the motor up two holes, so that would put it in the fourth hole from the top, and my cav plate almost 1" above the keel

wait a sec...
you were in the 4th hole from the top before, now you are in the third hole from the top, correct?
if so, you lowered your outboard, not raised it
where is your cav plate in relation to your keel, currently?
if you have an engine lifter, you can do this yourself...pull the cowling, put the hook in the lifting eye, break loose the nuts from the mounting bolts, break loose whatever they sealed the holes with, raise the motor, remount, seal the holes and replace/retorque the nuts
