Default 2000 Grady 247 w/"Evinrude Ram"

Was this common back then? With all the issues that the 2000 Ram was said to have is it still worth looking at? The motor only has 210 hours which is scary in 8 years. I am looking to see if any upgrades were completed. Any thought if a 225 is enough power for a 247 advance?
Thanks again for the help in the search for the first Grady....

No, not very common. Grady-White has only rigged with Yamaha since the mid 90s.

I had a Grady Strike 24 (same model as Advance 247) with a Yamaha 250 and it topped out around 46-47 at WOT.

If that was so, then why does the 2000 Grady White catalog show Evinrudes? See http://www.gradywhite.com/customer/c.../PDFs/2000.pdf

Grady went exclusively Yamaha when OMC collapsed to guarantee that they would have a supply of motors. You may hear other reasons, but its basically BS. The OMC collapse in 2000 caused a shortage and panic among boat builders that the boat builders weren't going to be able to get motors and without motors, they weren't going to be able to sell new boats. Yamaha used that fear to lock up transoms in exclusive deals.

I have a Grady White 247 Advance it's a 1998 with a 250 Yamaha on the back.

It is my second Advance... both had 250's. I would not want less then that. The 250 is perfect.

30 MPH cruise at 3800 RPM
46.5 WOT at 5400 RPM

I have a client with a 247 Advance with a F225 on it and says its a little slow to plane and slow cruise etc.. Id go with 250 if possible.

Any major concerns with the motor? It is actually a 2000 and I know that was the year with trouble. I am trying to make my mined up if I want to travel to see and trial this boat. Thoughts? Thanks.
