Onewolf. why did you hate the Sailfish?
|
Compared to all my other offshore boats, the ride of the Sailfish was terrible in anything bigger than 2' seas. When trying to head straight into 3+ foot chop it either wanted to go too fast and slam the crud out of us or it would bog down and not stay on plane. Knowing what I know _now_ I would have tried 4 bladed props to see if it would have helped the slow planing speed cabability. I believe the model year after mine (1998+) Grady extended the hull running surface all the way to the transom in large part to resolve the slow speed planing 'issue' (and renamed it the 282 Sailfish). I remember several times on Bahamas trips when I was trying to keep up with my buddies in deep V center consoles and they would be cruising merrily along and we would be having the shiat beat out us.
Comfort wise running into a head sea there's no comparison between our current Pursuit 3070 and the Sailfish 272. (Of course the Pursuit is 2' longer and 4000 lbs heavier!)
