Could be a SEA OX - they were made by North American Fiberglass, I think, out of North Carolina?

They were a heck of a boat in there time - much like a Parker! Think they stopped production (out of business?) many years ago but don't know who ended up with the molds? Some of the Carliiiina folks on here will know more.

They had a good amount of wood - but so did most other boats back then!

Never heard anything negative about them - supposedly good, solid made boats! Models from about 17-2?ft.. Frank White of the old "Southern Sportsman" TV show (out of Greenville, NC) use to have them as a sponsor. Not sure what ever happened to the show but I really enjoyed it!

That's about all I know about them.

Regards,
Bruce W

My dads boat when I was a kid was a North American S-22 OFFSHORE . they were built in Hialeah FL . Dads had a 165 mercruiser and twin 25 gallon saddle bag tanks under the seats . Best I remember It had a small deadrise and would beat your brains out, but man I had a ball on that boat with my DAD,and caught a lot of fish off that sucker. Also no affiliation to MAKO that I know of or ever heard of anyway .

Years ago I also had a North American 22 Offshore with twin Merc. outboards. Don't rem. the actual deadrise, but mine rode great in practically all seas. Same fuel as above, under the seats. I thought thew were built in NC also by North American Fiberglass, but perhaps not. They did make a 20 CC that had lines very different than the 22, but I never rode the 20 (the 22 had more Carolina Flare).

I have a 1971 north american 22 which i rebuilt from a bare hull (new decks/ tank/recore transom/ cut out cuddy/ convert I/O to bracketed OB/ and added a pilot house. pics are located here: http://thehulltruth.net/photos/photo...asp?albumid=21
The boat is absolutely bullet proof. These boats as stated above were made by north american fiberglass company and were sold as the "north american 19 and north american 22" The 22' was extended to 23 feet in the late 70's and 80's and was marketed as the 23' sea ox. The 19 footer was extended a foot and called the 20' sea ox. The boats had a great rep in their day actually placing in the key west to bermuda race along side the bertrams i've been told. The molds were bought and are actually still bouncing around- but im not sure who actually owns them- (some have alleged parker/ jones brothers). Construction of the older hulls is about a 3/4 inch sandwich of heavy woven roving and fiberglass mat making them a little heavy but much beefier than comparable boats. Remember that these boats were built before all this radical engineering so they tended to use too much fiberglass and overbuild them. My boat perfoms great in most sea conditions and because of its weight is great in a sea. It would benefit largely from the addition of Trim Tabs (bennett's of course) so if you consider the boat, add the cost of trim tabs and you'll have one great riding craft. Good luck.
