Are you taking your boat? You may want to post this in the South Florida forum section and also on the Florida Sportsman forum. Am sure you will get a lot more info

Not having any details of your vessel, for a first-timer making the crossing I would recommend running from West Palm to West End, then follow the coast around to FreePort.

blue marlin is in west end. You can leave out of anywhere from St Lucie to Boynton and get to west end pretty easily depends on how far you want to trailer. Weird expenses? Not at Blue Marlin everything is included. When you check in youll pay depending on the size of your boat $150 for under 30. As far as being productive it depends on the month but dont expect to pull in record numbers. Theres a lot of water and not much information online so your best bet would be to hire a local for a day or two and if you call blue marlin im sure they can help you out getting one.

I am planning my first trip to the Abacos and a friend with a ton of Bahamas experience suggested getting Steve Dodge's guide to the Abaco's. It also has in depth information on "the crossing". You can get it here http://www.wspress.com/ .

Relax Phil, I am doing some recon before we go. Also I have tapped into a wealth of knowledge from a couple of buddy's who have fished there a ton and will shoot me straight.

You should look at Old Bahama Bay if your staying in Westend. Their prices are coming back to real world. Blue marlin is nice not much going on at night Or OBB for that matter. I like OBB better it has more boats and people, plus we stay on the boat and bugs are not as bad. You won't go wrong with either one. Bootle bay next door to Blue marlin Cove is another option and much cheaper and food and people are great.

You understand that neither Blue Marlin Cove nor OBB are Freeport, correct? They are both West End and are very different from Freeport. West End is more versitile fishing-wise as you can fish both the Memory to Matanilla and NW Providence channel areas, depending on what's hot.

If your intention is to hit Lucaya and the casino, then you may want to stay closer as it's a pretty healthy cab ride from WE to Lucaya/Freeport.

I have not stayed at BMC, but hear good things. OBB is great, but they ding you for dockage in addition to the room rates.
