Default Innocent debate with a friend -- Is Bluewater a production, semi-custom, or custom boat?

I mentioned to a buddy that I liked Bluewater boats. He said, "for the money, he'd prefer a yellowfin." i never really thought about the two being in the same "league", so to speak. I kinda figured Bluewater was more towards the production end of things and yellowfin was more towards the custom end of things. And i also assumed the prices would reflect that. how wrong am I? would a BW and YF be comparable in price? he also said the yellowfin would be better on gas due to the BW being heavier. But the BW35 has a dry weight of 6840 and the YF36 is 6800. not much of a difference, right?

My opinion:
Custom: builder will change console, deck layout, engine configurations, etc.
Semi-custom: builder will add/remove easy things like tackle lockers, custom pipework, electronics, special electrical requests.
Production: builder won't do anything, but dealer can get boat with different preset options.

I think bluewater is semi-custom, based on my experience owning a 2003 2350. I think yellowfin is also semi-custom. Freeman boatworks is custom.

As far as fuel efficiency, I would guess yellowfin is more efficient because of their steps, not because of any weight difference.

Bluewater is a semi-custom builder.

Bluewater/yellowfin/contender etc. are all semi custom. If a boat company has "models", it is not custom, but can be semi custom.

When you sit down with a builder and the first thing he asks is "how big of a boat do you want" as opposed to "which model would you like", you're dealing with a custom builder.
