Sorry that this is kind of a spam thread but I felt like I should say a little something about Renaissance for the years of help and kindness they have shown me.
I just wanted to point out that if your interested in a cat that you may want to take a look at theirs. I have owned 2 and they were perfect for me. They are at the Miami Beach marina. Their website is www.renaissancecats.com. It will give you directions to them. You can take a no hassle ride and decide for yourself.
I hate to spam like this but as you are all aware the boating industry is doing bad and Renaissance has always treated me great so I think I owe them something.
I'm not saying anybodys boat is better than another. I'm just saying where they are. They are a small family owned company around for 11 years and I would like to see them get through this hard time. Getting in the show is very costly so they do sea trials out of the Miami Beach Marina. The only way you know where they are at is if you check their website so I'm just letting you know that they are near the show if you want to take a look.
To be fair, Contender is also there and there are other cats at the Marriott. I think the Freeman is there and World Cat. There might be more but I can't make it down for the show.
Others may differ, we'll see, but you've been around a while (i.e., no "one post wonder spammer") and I think this is helpful info, not spam. I'm a cat lover, and they are beautiful boats. Thread here tonight, "Best Boat I Have Ever Owned" deals with them too, with some pix of one owner's ride.
That probably IS right, and that's what's wrong with the Prowler for almost all of us. It's just another really beautiful semi-custom boat that hardly anybody can afford. And at that size and price, it's up against some really stiff competition in the semi-custom cat world.
Prowlers are the very best fishing CATAMARAN (I.M.O.):
Not everyone can afford a CABO, ROLLS ROYCE
STARBUCKS OR HAGGAN-DAZ EITHER!
My other best new THINGS by category (I.M.O.)
Offshore CC >>>>>>>>> Cape Horn
Offshore cruiser/fisherman >>> Rosborough 246 Wheelhouse
Offshore fishing boat >>>> True World Marine
Flats boat >> Sundance
Pick-Up truck >> they quit making real trucks when they invented PLASTIC!
Jeep -- They went out with the last CJ7
Aircraft >>>> Cessna 182 (14K hours TTAS&MEL/CFII & 135)
REAL SAUSAGE >> BradleysCountryStore.com
Happy Valentines day to all from 17 miles north of Tallahassee and 2 miles
south of Bradleys Country Store
Thanks KeyPineSavage and talquin. I was trying not to overstep my bounds. I heard it was still very slow today. Not just for Renaissance but everyone there. Protector I heard was there but was not today. Bad time for the boat industry.
Yur right about the nosewheel! I flew the arctic and sub-arctic
bush in a Beaver (skis & wheels) in the Air Force around Hopedale, Cartwright, Seglak and Frobisher Bay, also part-time for EPA in Happy Valley, Hopedale & Cartwright (Labrador) flying a program called, "Aid to Indigenous Peoples". That was part-time while flying an EC121D on arctic patrol for Russian Bears out of The Goose & Keflavik, Iceland. Cessna 182, still safest airplane ever built! It was extremely overbuilt as the engineers knew it would be extremely abused.
Does anyone REALLY know where last years stimulus package went and where this years is heading? Both please, not just one of them.
I have a different brand cat that I am totally happy with...but the Prowler is the best. I couldn't afford one. But for best flats skiff....Sundance? Don't agree with dat! Perhaps Dragonfly. Cannot comment on the flying machines.

in all fairness to Renaissance which other cats are out there are much cheaper ??? other then Twin Vee and ProKat(and they are both out of business)
yes they are expensive I'd agree but if you compare to the competition the costs are in line with others and at least they are a small company and you can get it done your way from any choice of power to your own personal touches
the other big issue is RESALE----------THEY HOLD THEIR VALUE much better then others you have to consider that into overall long term costs
as far as list prices and discounts thats pretty meaningless if its anything like the business I'm in we have some cabinet lines that we sell at 50% off MSRP becuase the prices are so inflated and we have other cabinet lines that we have to sell at list prices because the MSRP is not inflated to start with
What is the cost of a well rigged Prowler 30' ? I have always admired them....were I in Florida they would get a better look. But, being in NC the WC is an easy choice because of close and VERY good factory support. With Freeman 33's built so close I would look there before the Prowler because of proximity. I know problems are unlikely but in the case you have them Fla is a long way for me. All make good cats and you are right, the detail I have seen on the Prowler rigging is excellent and in talking with the owner he seems like a great guy.

Greg
good point with the service but these days its almost a roll of the dice look how many companys have gone under recently and all the people that have new boats without any warranties or dealer service
to me that was something that I gave alot of thought to I'm alway up in NJ thats a lot longer way from FL then the Carolinas, I had a couple of very minor issues after delivery of my boat, bilge pump and defective primer ball for one of the engines they sent me the parts and I replaced them no big deal the heck those guys did so much extra stuff on the rigging when the boat was built that I don't mind working with them on the little stuff I got in writting from them that if anything major arised and couldn't be handled locally they would send their guy up to handle it or would transport the boat back yo the factory
they are right now working on a 30 thats going to CA and its the guys second boat the first was a 2003---246 I think that says a whole lot for the company
Greg -Thanks
as a former WC and GB owner I can appreciate different qualities in each boat I loved those boats as well , each boat has its pros and cons as we all know for me right now the Prowler makes the most sense and I do think that for what you get the boat is priced right (still not a cheap boat) but most of all I must say that the owners Tom,Bill and even Tony their rigging guy have been great they all make me feel like they care about my boat as if it were their own.
I stopped by their place today and was able to see first hand how the 30' walkaround(fisharound) is coming and let me tell I can't wait for the finished product I think they will turn some heads with the look and practicality of this cat there's nothing like it around that I know of its a boat that I've wanted to see built for the past 6 or seven years
