Intake Flush valves?? Anyone know where to get these, other than the link below which seems to be a bit pricey for them. I have 2" intake seacocks, which is stepped down to a 1 3/4" hose to my Yanmar's, so I'm looking for the 2" version.
These are valves put inline with your engine raw water intake/thru hull, so you can shut off the seacock, open this valve up, and connect a garden hose and suck in antifreeze to winterize, or suck up water in bilge in an emergency.... or jsut to flush the raw side of he cooling system with fresh water.
Several good discussions on this issue over at boatdiesel.com. Use the search function, go back a couple years. They fabricate them at Seaboard Marine, www.sbmar.com; I read that Groco was now making thru hulls with a flush built in, as well.
38Black, thanks.... I just searched there for "Flush Valves" going back 1 year and only came up with one message about a Groco kit. I don't liek the Groco kits because they don't have a valve on them, you have to twist off the "plug", then screw in your hose to do anything. In the case of emergency, good luck getting down there and doing that in bilge water....

What else could I search for? Suggestions...?
Go run the same search at boatdiesel.com, go back a couple of years, there's been quite a few good discussions.
My boat has these huge 5-6" bronze thru hulls, factory I'm sure, with a gigantic T to crash valves that turn down next to the stringer, I mean it's like 3 cubic feet of space taken up with all this, at the rear of the trans, over the shafts. I am planning some major re-engineering, including flush valves. My gen is easy, un-do 1" hose from thru hull, stick in the bucket, turn on the hose. I use salt-a-way 2-3 times a year, CLR or rydlyme once, then change impeller and zincs right after.
And while I'm rambling, sbmar.com fabricates a real clean, simple ss piece, send Brad over there a digital pic, with hose size, etc. It splices in to your raw water main hose(s), has an adaptor tee for what ever you want: threaded, slip-on, whatever.
I started a thread on this very subject probably a week ago. I'll look for it. But basically I've decided to install something like you have or this:
I think I may like your idea better. I have a problem reaching my arms in the bilge deep enough to reach the ripcord on this. Yours may be easier to flip the ball valve. I'm talking as an emergency bilge pump.
As a flush (or in my case a winterization bypass) they both serve the same purpose.

I'm half ADHD. Search again, go back a couple years, try "freshwater flush", maybe, there's been several threads in the last year or two. There were a couple where they drilled and tapped their strainer covers for hose outlet, or clamped hose type set-up.
