Default NEW 2009 ATLANTIC BOATS AT THE AC SHOW

What do you think of the new 2009 ATLANTIC boats, http://www.atlanticfishingboats.com ???

Well it looks like Nautic Global Group ( http://discovernautic.com/ ) has combined Rinker and Godfrey Marine who make Polar boats. Polar and Atlantic seem to be the same boat. What I do not understand is why they call the Atlantic 245 WA when the boats lenght is @ 23' 4", Polar 2300WA boat lenght @ 23' 4" .

245 WA seems to suggest a 24' Boat.

I wonder if they will still be making Polar boats?? Perhaps they will start making a Atlantic 21WA, Polar discontinued its 21WA in 2008. Last Polar 21WA was made in 2007 and is much like the Atlantic 245 WA / Polar 2300WA but only 21' 4" in length and no Hardtop.

Well best of luck to Nautic Global Group, seems like they found a way to keep the work force employed, Atlantic / Polar boats looking sharp. http://www.polarboats.com/ http://www.atlanticfishingboats.com

Polar is done.
I have seen the Atlantics online and they are definatly a Polar with an emblem upgrade. As ar as the length, I dont get that either. I think they are trying to make Polar a memory because of some of its bad publicity. Its a nice boat overall, just depends on the year of production. The Alabama built boats had their share if isses but have since been corrected since they moved production to Indiana.
I hope the Nautic Global Group can keep things going. Elkhardt Indiana is home of Godfrey Marine. I saw yesterday that Elkhardt's unemployment rate was up to 15.3%. The new Pres is going there next week to blow some smoke at them at a town hall meeting. I think he is just promoting his new plan of action.
I wish them luck as well.

We have a 2008 23cc Polar that was built in Indiana. Its a darn good boat. Just ran it 25 miles on Lake Norman with the bass boats and stiff winds. Some boats fell in behind me, wonder why As much as we like our Polar, we have decided to down size to a 25' skiff. Just seems reasonable since we live over 200 miles inland and have limited time to the coast now. No doubt, the Atlantic is a Polar.

I was at the show on Thursday.I am very critical of gel coat imperfections and I was impressed by the gelcoat on the Atlantic boats,even the dark blue hulls were beautiful.They are essentially Polars with greatly improved gelcoat.

RICKY77;

The Atlantic boats print they use a NPG based gel coat, Polar print they use Premium gel coat backed by Hydropel Vinylester Barrier Coat.

Other boats just say they use Premium gel coats or Superior gel coats

How many different gel coats are there???

What is the best gel coat a manufacture can apply? How does one inspect the gel coat on a new boat, do you scratch it or what??

I'm glad you asked I use a 60 degree specular gloss meter,then I scratch the topsides with my pen knife when the salesmen isn't looking!I liked the gel coat on the Atlantic boats.Just describing what I saw .I didn't intend to bash Polar.
