i'd say it's phishing.

password changes on this forum are done through the control panel. there does not appear to be a separate page for password reset.

not so sure, I got one a long time back worded the same way so I went into control panel and changed it. Didn't send anything via email.

I don't know. If you do it through the Control Panel, it should be OK. There are some software changes being made.

If you forget your password and ask that it be reset, you'll get that email.
