Default Engine Height

I have a 1860 G3 side console john boat with 90 four stroke Yami. The cavitation plate is approx. 2" below the keel. Motor is in the lowest of 4 positions. Should I raise it to be flush with the hull?

Suzuki wants the plate even with the bottom but prefers them to be 1/2" above the bottom.
