Re: 250 e-tec oil usage
Oil consumption is hard to compare from one boat to another, and from one driver to another. Oil use in an E-TEC is controlled by the motor's computer from inputs on rpm, throttle position, exhaust backpressure, temperatures, etc. A single engine on a heavy boat will use more oil than on a light fast boat.
If you run mostly slow speeds, oil use is very low. At high speeds, the oil is consumed quicker as is the fuel. Each time you accelerate your motor, more oil is pumped into it. A "throttle jockey" will always use more oil than a driver who keeps his rig at a steady rpm.
If you are concerned, have a tech ride along with you and watch the diagnostic software on his laptop. You can see the oil use displayed on the screen.
