Friday, I bought a 2002 Seaswirl 2101 DC w/ a 225 Yamaha efi, salt series. It has a Lowrance X-15 (GPS, fishfinder & chart plotter) & an ICOM vhf radio. The livewell is circular & is HUGE. I found it on Ebay.
Congrats on the new boat.
I have a 23ft walkaround. This will be my 4th season with it. Satisfied so far. The Seaswirl hulls ride through sloppy water better with the bow down a bit. My boat has trim tabs which I use for trimming the boat (side to side) and bringing the bow down in rough water. If your boat does not have tabs, you may want to get them.
Of course I'd have to answer a Seaswirl post! Nice rig. I think that you will like it a lot. I handles rough water well. Ditto on the trim tabs. A slight bow down trim in chop works well with these hulls. I think that you will find the hull virtually indestructable. The dual console set up you have is nice. May I recommend the full canvas enclosure for cold rainy days when you just gotta get out and fish. Let us know how you like it and how it is performing reliability wise. I know my Seaswirl is not a top of the line rig but it does the job for me. My cuddy is larger than many 25s out there. I have mine rigged with Garmin 180 chartplotter, Backup Magellin 315 interfaced with my Standard Horizon VHF, and Lowrance X60 fishfinder. We put a tv/vcr combo in the front of the berth, coffee maker to port. A 9.9 Honda kicker motor tied in with Ez steer. Seaswirl 2100 WA
We regularly go 25-40 miles out in her and fish hard.
Sweet looking ride! That thing looks like a fishing machine. Plus, you are basically getting a brand-new boat without taking the hit on the depreciation. You gotta love that!
Anyways, keep us updated on how she works out and good luck!
I wish that I had the 23, I have the 21 footer. I have a 150 Johnson Ocean pro outboard which is barely enough. I always run a full fuel tank, 2 people, ice box, kicker, extra oil and lots of gear. The prop that came on the boat is a 15x17 good for 5000rpm's. I have on order a 15x15 in hopes of gaining 4-500rpm's to help getting out of the hole. I'll post the performance numbers as soon as I re-prop. Currently she is sluggish out of the hole but performs well on plane. She tops out at 38-40 with the current prop and glassy conditions.
So far, I absolutely love it! The 225 gets up quick. I think I scared everyone the first day on the water. Both days I've run it have been steady 2-3' chop and it slices through with ease.
Paul: Do you have jump seats? I am wondering how easily they remove.
Wow! Congratulations. I have a 2003 2101 DC with a V/P 225 hp I/O and I am very happy with it. Mine doesn’t have tabs, but I am hoping to add them soon. Just out of curiosity can you give us a rough number (maybe I don’t want to know) of what you got it for? I spent 9 months looking for a lightly used boat like that before I finally threw in the towel and went new. From the pictures it looks well cared for and you should get a lot of good use out of it. I am a fan of the dual console set up (based on our boating habits) and I think dollar for dollar you got one of the best of these set ups. Have fun!
I have a 99' 2600 and absolutly love the boat. Over 250 hours of fishing in the great lakes last summer(thats alot of hours up here). Ride is great and although I've had no problems, all the dealings I've had with Seaswirl(transfering warrenty, questions, etc...) have been extremely pleasant.
I have the2003, 2301 CC with twin 115's and it hauls a$$.
We get some wind chop here and swells but it handles it all well.
I have a buddy with a charter boat and we sometimes use mine to haul out to some "special spots" to scout for him so he only goes if there are fish.
Most boats out here are not powered very high. I saw a 23 footer (cat) with twin 45's on it?????
Many have single 90's or maybe a single 200. Yams are big here but you also see quite a few Hondas.
Great looking rig...I hope I can find something that looks that good when I finally get around to purchasing a boat!
Good luck with it, and catch a bunch o' fish...
