I believe we have decided to sell our 2008 Polar 23 CC and go with a skiff, mostly due the fact we live too far inland and our time at the coast is limited. Most every trip down, the seas aren't very pleasent and we spend most of our time inshore fishing for flounder, trout or drum anyway. So, anyone had a Carolina skiff or Sundance Skiff and which one is better? We're looking at the 258 DLV ELite, or just a plain 238DLV Carolina. Check this one at Grass Shack Marine. http://www.grass-shack.net/searchresults.html? scroll to the 2nd page and the 258 is red.
I owned a Sundance and issues that the factory did not cover and it was under warranty. I have told my story before here and you can find it under the search button.
All the baymen and commercial fisherman use the caroline skiff for a reason.

I agree with Captbone.........
Like Captbone I had major issues with my sundance and the factory did nothing.
I have owned a Sundance Skiff for about 3 years now.
For the money it is the best deal around.
The quality is great, as well as their service.
I had several minor issues and they took care of it no questions asked.
I had a problem with the key switch, sent them an email and within a few days I had a new one at my door.
Same thing with the fill tube in the fuel tank.
It broke and I sent them and email, 3 days later I had a new one at my door.
Other than a few minor issues, it is a great boat and great service.
I currently own a Sundance and although the problems are few I would go with Carolina Skiff because it rides more solid. Originally thoughtthe Sundancewould be a great boat to pull out to the Cape for running around. Turns out we run it all over the place and it fits in the same slip our Silverton so it is quick to run out but my bad knees have taken a real beating. If I had it to do all over again I would probably go with one of the new small Cats. The sure don't mind the 1' seas but my Sundance will beat the living $hit out of me.
Carolina Skiff is a nice boat for what you want to do. However you may want to check out Southern Skimmer. They make a nice boat also. I bought a 21 about two years ago with no complaints what so ever. I also like the wide gunnels on it. It gives you plenty of seating at rest. They are under new ownership now. I spoke to the new owner a couple of months ago. They have made a few changes in them like raising the floor and using composit in them now. At the time i bought mine, the price was very resonable rigged out turn key.
i recently purchased a CS 258DLV. it sure is hard to argue with Carolina Skiff's reputation and pricing. I am thoroughly happy with my boat, so far. yeah, it doesn't ride anywhere near as good as my old v-hull, but every boat has compromises. I now run shallower, faster, better fuel mileage, and I could fit my old boat inside of the 258....the 258 is LARGE. feel free to ask questions and check out that CS owners site that everyone is sending you to. I'm on there, too.
