Default From a single to twins!

Somehow my wife said yes and I was able to exchange my 225 yamaha 4 stoke and 8 hp kicker for a pair of 175 ETECS. Just got the boat back a couple of days ago and boy is she fast. We have had a bit of bad weather since and I have not had time to get it out on the water again. Top speed when the dealer sea trialed it was about 49mph. The boat is a 2601 striper. I have a bunch of pictures on my site showing the progess from start to finish if interested!

I think you're a lucky man with a good wife. Hang on to her. Oh, the boat looks great.

The day I tested it, we had about two foot of chop in the bay and about 30 mph of wind. I did not take it over 40mph becase it felt uncomfortable. Salesman took it up to 46mph but with the wind and chop she was getting a bit squirrelly! I will be doing some runs as soon as I can and getting more hard info. It is going to take3 some time just getting used to the gauges.

THe pix look great...Now you get to buy TWO of everything for maintenance...(and 2S oil!)

How is your burn rate with the twins now...Its nice to go a little bit faster, but how often do you run WOT? I hope your MPG at cruise improves...

Good Luck...BTW, My wife was the one to push me into buying my last two boats...You and I both definitely "married up"...LOL

With the Yamaha I was always running WOT is seemed. It was just underpowered. But with these I will be running faster and at far less RPMs. So in therory I should get much better mileage.

I have not had the chance yet to try docking it or really even playing with it yet. I am hoping to get a break in the snow we are having and run it down to Lake Washington and do a work up on RPMs and feul flow and docking. Matters not how well you did out on the water if you come in and smack the dock in front of your friends!

Looks great, sure with those new motors it is like a new boat. Everything is not like it used to be and when you hit the throttles she roles. Sure looks pretty with the white on white and I think you will love the gas numbers once you get her dialed in (not to mention the top end)!!!

Very cool. I love Yamaha's 4 strokes but a repower with twins is always nice. The 2601 is a heavy boat anyway. Congrats, and be sure to post some performance updates once you get some calm seas. It's funny how wives will approve and push for options I'm not sure they totally understand or care about, but look good. I sold mine on a hardtop, another center console boat, and Raymarine electronics based on the fact the boat would have a porta-potti in the console... It was never mounted, and I removed the porta-pottie still in the box after delivery...

I really think the wife just got the tournament bug! Only way I can explain it. She cannot take the boat running across small ripples in the water and so does not go very often, but she likes seeing my numbers up there at weigh in. I am sure if she was on our last crossing of the Columbia River bar, she would make me sell the boat! Crew voted that crossing one of their top five for pucker factor!

ha ha...My wife wanted a head and a place to get out of the weather with our daughter...Head has never been used! She actually nagged me to call the seller on the last boat we bought...That kind of nagging I don't mind...
