If crude oil went down why didn't my darn 2 cycle oil price go down??!!
I'm sick of getting ripped off. The 2 cycle oil I buy used to be 8 bucks, now it's 11. I expect it to go back down but it aint. Any Idea why? Other than someone keeping their profit up high!
Re: If crude oil went down why didn't my darn 2 cycle oil price go down??!!
Not to defend the oil companies, but 2 cycle oil never caught up to the full increase in crude oil pricing. It will go down, but there is always a lag in the supply chain. Just a few short months ago crude oil was $147/barrel.

If I am not mistaken Synthetic oil is not “artificial” oil as it ‘s name leads people to believe. It is real oil whos molecules have been modified to give better perfomance, or to do things that “regular” oil can not do.

There is a lag time, but you will likely never see the price go back to what it was before the price of crude skyrocketed. Too much money to be had in the form of profits for that to happen.
RE: If crude oil went down why didn't my darn 2 cycle oil price go down??!!
At least from Yamaha and Merc.............their engines oils did not go up as fast as fuel costs or crude prices didgoing up.OEM oil pricesdid finallycatch up, but it did take a few months.
I would expect as mentioned, the price going down is going to have to do with their inventory. Since boating use is down(at least by us it was) I will imagine it will take a few months to see pricereductions at the retail end.

Correct, it's made from crude oil.
Not all. Some synthetics are parrafin wax based. 2190TEP the Navy uses for the turbines is this way. Others are made through a true all sythetic method.
Here read the Wikapedia about it. Your right for synthetic blends, but a true synthetic is that such as Havoline Synthetic. Most companies offer a true synthetic and then a blend. It is all in the class of synthetic. True synthetics are really expensive.

Many business's price based on COGS not current market value. And do not have the time to change prices evry time the market goes up or down. Most gas and Oil companies price based on curent market price and as such many change price 2 or 3 times a day to keep up with what they expect to pay to to refill the tank. I know of a few smaller stations that were stuck with high priced fuel that they had to sell for below cost due to price drops.
Re: If crude oil went down why didn't my darn 2 cycle oil price go down??!!
Boat builders said they needed to raise prices when the price of oil shot up. Even once the existing inventory is gone, don't hold your breath for prices to come down.
