Default Looking for a boat partner (Ft. Lauderdale)

I am currently looking for a boat partner in Ft. Lauderdale to help me split my payment on a 2002 24 foot center console fishing boat. Boat runs perfect and tops out at 50 mph. You must have a dock as i want to keep in water. Use boat as you please I just ask that you maintain it and don't run into ground. Also I will be using boat as well so you have to be ok with the idea that I can come and go when I use it. Must live between Ft. Lauderdale and Boca in Florida. Also must not be too far west as I want to be near the main intra coastal waterways. Also must know allot about boating and know how to operate and navigate a boat and be familiar with the waters in this area. This is a great opportunity for someone who doesn't want to go out and spend thousands of dollars. Also I need a place to store my trailer as well. If you are interested please leave me your contact information on here and I will contact you and will give you more information. Thanks

Captain Frank

I have interest. Kindly indicate the make of the vessel and engine(s). I am a very experienced and safe Captain (over 20 years) and my object is to share a boat so my son and I can fish fairly regularly. Lost my well maintained 31 Cabo in recent divorce . . . I keep a very clean boat, i.e., always wash down after fishing, etc., have great respect for machinery in general, and know the local waters including intracoastal and offshore. Dock in Pompano Beach (nice area; quiet community) and utilize Hillsboro Inlet regularly. Two minutes from Intracoastal, East of Federal Highway. I also know the fishing spots, am easy going, etc. Thanks, Dave mogullaw@aol.com

Let me see if I got it right...I give you $ 150 + Free dockage + Free parking for your trailer; for how long do I have to pay the $ 150; do I help pay for repairs and insurance? and after paying you $ 150 for 5 years you go away with your boat and my money? Who pays for the maintenace and up keeping my dock? the water bill and electric? My Dock is in Palm Beach 7 minutes from Boynton beach Inlet; tipicaly dockage cost as much as your monthly payment; this does not sound like good deal to me..

Even if all that is true, and he drives off in his boat in the future, can you rent a nice 24 foot center console, and have it at your disposal for $150 a month? Can you buy your own, and have less than $150 a month in depreciation and expenses, less actual operating costs? That is, if $300 represents the total payment, and not somebody's half. The only loss I see is the loss of potential rent if you leased your dock, but then you still have to put up with a tenant on your property. All boat partnerships are tricky, and the vast majority fail, just like marriages and small businesses, but it could work out for somebody who doesn't want to lease his dock to a stranger.

wonder why so secretive about the boat's description and not adding a couple of photos showing condition, electronics, etc? This is a concept/offer that could only benefit from a little bit of marketing; not the appearance of mining for e-mail addresses.

Dear Glacierbaze:
I say...is a 2002 - 24' Boat; how much is it worth? mmm...I think with $300 a month I could buy a boat like that, especialy in this market today. If I got to pay $150 and have a tenant + my expenses; well I may just put another $150 and buy the boat.
The other side of the story is: He gets free dockage + $150 dollars a month - I used the boat twice in tree months and then the guy lives me with a $450 dollar hole in my pocket and bye bye. No deal.

Sounds like he is asking if anyone is interested, and if so, shoot him an Email. If your not interested, why do you need to run the guy into the ground?

Sharing a boat is like sharing your wife.

Not for me!

I have never seen a boat sharing experience go well. I agree with the wife sharing comment.

He has been a member for over 2 years - not a great deal for you and I but maybe for someone else that wants a boat but is not committed as they could quit this option anytime I would imagine without much out of pocket. Here is one of his earlier posts - sounds like the boat he bought here is what he is offering?

If you're looking for all posters to be well thought out, knowledgable people you will be sorely disappointed. Lot's of idiots here. FWIW, I have been in two boat partnerships, one for 4 1/2 years that ended very well and my current which is also excellent. It can and is done successfully. BTW, at least 50% of marriages end in divorce as well.

Why is this poster catching all this flak? If you are not interested in his proposition then move on to the next post. There is a buyer for almost everything and what you think may be a bad offer others may think is just right. Give the guy a break....You guys are like a bunch of old ladies......

Yes I agree with Oceanluvr and obxfish if you guys are not interested keep your comments to yourself. Actually if you think about it this is a great situation for someone who doesnt have the money to come up with outa pocket or the credit to finance a 24 foot boat that runs damn good and fishes like a dream (elcosito)!!! So again if you are interested you can feel free to email me at kyleredengine@yahoo.com Thanks again for your understanding
