Interlux makes a clear antifouling spray paint. I have used it and it seems to fight growth. But its not perfect but it is better than not having it at all. The downside is that when it dries it dries to a haze which will filter some light. Also....when you do clean the lights you will rub the paint off.

Its really a no win situation. The only underwater lights that will stay growth free are metal halides. Thats because they get so hot that the growth burns off or won't grow at all. The big yachts that have them usually have them on a timer to run a few hours every night to keep them clean.

For regular bulbs such as halogen and HID as well as LED the best you can do is brush them as often as possible. I'm in the same boat....so to speak.

The last time I was on the hard for an annual bottom job, we did the normal propspeed on all the running gear and intake strainers. As you know, propspeed is a 2-part application, with some initial etching and cleaning as well. The "primer" is yellowish in color, but the final coat is absolutely clear. On the reccomendation of some folks in the yard, I applied primer only to the metal parts of my Underwate Lights, leaving the lens clear. The final coat of clear was applied to everything, including the lens. Several months later the clear final coat of propspeed is still crystal clear on the lens and growth falls off easily. Would not reccomend running out and mixing up a batch of propspeed just for a few lenses though. Also, as mentioned, turning the lights on occasionally keeps the growth off. I have multiple 220V SeaVision lights which do get a bit warm.
