Default Mercury Smartcraft Gauges

The fuel level gauge read backwards....... full reads empty and empty is full. Anyone know where to look. Thanks

Do you have a U.S resistance value ( 240 ohms empty to 33ohms full) sender? European value senders have reverse progression: lower resistance empty, higher full (~ 10-180 ohms?) Perhaps the Smartcraft has a setup setting for sender type?

Just found this on the Merc Marine site:

"What fuel level senders should I use with my SmartCraft gauges?
Any type of sender that outputs 33 Ohms full to 240 Ohms empty (or a voltage representative of that resistance range). Some fuel sender technologies are much better than others. Please avoid using the float arm type senders as they are designed for analog systems. Senders that have been known to work well are WEMA, Royce, ISSPRO, and Moeller Digital."

Take the sender out and see if the wire lead is coming out of the bottom of the rheostat. If not flip it over.
