Default Matching Gel-Coat Color

With the help of some friends (at least I still think they are friends) I finished getting the bottom paint off the boat this weekend. (I'll post pics as soon as I can get them uploaded to a server) Now it is time to get after all the little hair line cracks that were hiding under it. I have never worked with gel-coat before but it seems like the same sort of procedure one would use when putting up dry wall - fill and fair. What I would like to know is wether or not there is some science to color matching gel coat or is it purely art? Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.

Try this site that offers pre-mixed color for most boat manufacturers and colors.

Thanks Recovery Room.

I called 'em and they don't stock the color for my Stratos. Bummer. They will custom color a gallon for me if I can send them a chip from the boat and $185.00. That's just to much material and $$$ for my application.

Seems like a very good company though. Very informative and professional over the phone.

Did you try www.minicraft.com*?

They have quite a list of manufacturers.
