Default 115 Evinrude Powerhead help Please

I posted a couple of weeks ago about a serious problem I am having with a 1993 115 Evinrude. One of the four cylinders is now scored in two places. The powerhead needs to be rebuilt. I have been looking online for a used 115 at the right price <$3000 but no luck.

Due to the value of the boat being so low, I dont want to sink a bunch of money into it. So, I think the best route is to get the powerhead fixed.

I am in Oriental, NC and Raleigh, NC and was hoping that someone could give me the name of a very reputable shop either local to me preferably or online to get it fixed.

I appreciate any suggestions!!!

I appreciate it and will. I was hoping that with all of the experience of the board and my lack of it someone could point me in the right direction.

Oops,
I gave you the E-Tec (only) board. This one is for the other models.

Thanks...I will do that....any suggestions though on shops in central or eastern NC that do powerhead work and are good? Any links to someone on the the internet that would do it?

I was close to sending it to one that i had seen on here (wont mention names) and several members of THT privately messaged me not to...for that I am very thankful.

Here's how rebuilds go...A dealer hones and replaces what he sees is wrong this is a band aid maybe a bore job with a top mount boring machine not designed for a outboard. does it work? For a limited time. In most cases you pay as much OR EVEN MORE as you would if you got a real rebuild where you could get as much as 5 to 10 years. Most cylinders are so out of round and tapered or bell mouthed anything opt her than a bore job on that motor with a properly finished honing will give long term reliability.....

That pretty much sums up what you did to my powerhead, a quick hone job and slap in some new pistons. Why don't you refer Skimac to one of the dealers that installs your junk in NC?

I bought a 93' E rude 115 off ebay 3 years ago for $2100.00. Go to ebay, type in evinrude 115 (leave the HP off) you will see several motors. There is a guy in Savannah Ga(Wilmington Island) who sells good motors. There is a 2008 E-rude Etec 115 for $7000.00
A 1995 25" shaft 115 $1995.00. I believe in 1995 or 96 Evinrude changed the wiring harness from the big red connector to several smaller connectors. Not a big deal, you can buy an adapter to make it work on older red plug control harness.
