Since I finally figured out how to post pics, I thought I would post some "almost done" shots of Bill Judge's latest beauty.....She is a Chesapeake 36 with Cummins power and will soon be stalking fish in the Bay. We thought this Saturday might be "judgement" day...but it looks like I will take delivery next week. Very hard to get work done knowing this is right around the cornor!!!
Alright, you had to show me up Steve. At least I got my boat first
I am dying to hear some performance numbers when you get her. She looked beautiful and was fun to watch be built along side of mine. Maybe I will have one one day after I win the lottery. I cannot wait to see photos of her in the water. Make sure Bill gets some good shots during the sea trial!

Flag blue hull, which is very dark..dark red bottom and a white boot stripe....you can see the beginning of the red in the second pic, but the waterline is higher than that ...it gets painted up after the main hull color.
Mushy7...Yes, I too am afraid of what further damage this will do to my work ethic And B-Faithful is right, yes it does have heat ....fishing in december will never be the same Already planning a CBBT trip without the lines at the ramp!!!
That is going to be a beast out there in the bay. It is one beautiful boat and I am sure jelous. Yes that heat will be a welcome feeling out there this winter.
If you do make a trip to CBBT this winter are you just going down for a weekend or longer? If for just a weekend I let me know since we are talking about doing the same, only problem we found was there is a 1-2 year waiting list for a slip in Rudee so we would probably be just a day or two down at a time. We made the trip to Lynnhaven in August and it was a beautiful ride down in 1 footers but coming home it was pretty nasty in the 3-4 footers with a 15 knot North wind coming rite against us. Send me a pm if you decide to make the trip, might want to follow behind that beast if it is snotty out.
Where on the bay are you going to keep it? We are out of Point Look Out.
Gillagorilla...I wish I could go for a couple of weeks, but realistically I'm looking at several long weekends. Trying to work on logistics without jinxing delivery. I'll let you know as we get closer. We are out of Deale and she will be named Conjuror. I'll see you out there. Thanks
No, it is a Cummins 425hp QSB 5.9 which is a great engine. Cruise is at 2800 turning 26-8kts. I'll wait to see fuel burn but I expect it is 1.8 -2.0 mpg at that speed depending on conditions. In test's this spring dropping down to 22-3 kts ran fuel economy close to 2.5mpg. We'll see.
I found a Back Cove 33 with same engine. Published data for it at 26.5 knts was 20 gal per hour at 3000 RPM.
Any ways, that engine is best value on market for balance of performance, cost of maint and ease to get parts and service.
Common Rail design with 4 valves per cylinder make for a quiet and almost stink free diesel.
deltarome. the engine is rated at 3000, so that Back Cove is probably running at WOT..20 gal per hour is probably right for that...must have a slower hull ....I ran with Bill Judge on his Chesapeake this spring and last fall to check the numbers.... again, I'll give updated numbers as soon as I can
