Hi i bought a 2009 Wellcraft 290 in a NEW Color that is called IMPACT RED they told me if I selected the color it would be the 1st 290 made, has anyone seen the color maybe in another wellcraft boat, i know is being produced in some other models but i havent been able to find any pictures,
When I selected the boat the send me a picture with the color idea but it dindt really say anything, i am a little crazy to go for it anyhow i tought that if it was a new factory color how wrong could i go.
My Boat is currently in TRANSTIT dont know when it will arrive.
TKs, Boat will be Garaged Kept though all its time down here Waxed once a week, I have a Team here they wash the boat every single time i go out and Wax it once a Week, its actually very cheap down here, i pay the 120 US a month Plus the Materials
Good luck! Personally - red is not for me. White, Black, and some Blues. However, if I were to go with anything but white, I would go for paint. Keeping it garaged and maintained, you should be better than OK. Make sure that you don't "over do it" with harsh chemicals and use the best waxes. And don't forget all the "other stuff" Protectant 303 is great on vinyl, plastics and antennae. Woody Wax has also done alright by me. Though I have found that it is either "love it or hate it" - and remember, it is certainly easier to keep a boat looking new, than bringing it back
no need to wax every week, in fact that will lead to swirls and smudges - just wash once a week with a car shampoo that does not strip wax - orpine boat soap will also work
use a slow orbital to apply RejeX once a quarter - (2 coats each 12 hours apart), hand buff off with microfiber towels and the hull will stay in good shape for years....
and steve is correct.... 303 protectant for all the vinyl and things in the sun (radomes, antennas, etc)
My old boat i washed it every time i went out that is probably every week but did wax it once a month hand waxed not with machine never had any problem with it, it was black with red and Grey a Formula 311 SR-1, the Paint was in incredible shape when i sold it,
The Red is Gel Coat its not paint,
Anyhow thanks for the Advice will follow what is this Rejex Product
Every 3 months will be fine for waxing especially since its being kept indoors out of the sun. Becasue its a dark color you should probably compound it once a year, possibly every 6 months but it shouldnt need it.
what about polish once a week? is polish better than wax in terms of coats and applications? say nu-finish polish every week or month vs. 3m or marine WAX (carnuba blend etc) every quarter...
Heard that polymer based polish is the way to go over carnuba based wax as it "melts"?
Yes i am going to use the product Glen Recommended look good "Rejex" we dont have it down here but i will buy some to use. I will try and use this product every Two Months and wash with the Auto Soap and see how it go's
