Audible Warning Help Hey guys, I'm still fixing the wiring goof-ups in my boat from the previous mechanics. Most recently I discovered that at some point the warning buzzers were hooked up incorrectly and both are fried. They are in a harness system for a pair of 1992 Evinrude 140's.
The local dealer wants around 70 bucks apeice for these little buzzers, but I'm thinking I could find something similar to replace them with for cheaper.
They are basically a three wire buzzer alarm. They have a tan feed (from the temp sensors, low oil warning etc) 12V+ switched power from the ignition and they also have a black ground wire coming from them.
Anyone had any experience finding a replacement for these? I can only seem to find 2 wire buzzers.
In effect the way the system works is a quick beep when the ignition is turned on, low oil warning is a continuous beep, overheat is continuos I think, oil/fuel restriction is an intermittent beep. I assume that the cadence is controlled by the sending units themselves as far as I know. So the challenge is understanding why the extra (black ground) is there and finding a cheaper replacement. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
