I would suggest buying one of the ubiquitous manuals on Ebay Motors. The one I bought should will likely cover yours; don't know about the year...........

The title of the auction was : Mercury - Mariner Outboard Repair Manual 1990-2002.

A couple of things. The above auction was for a Mercury Manual, not one of the "Chilton types" such as SEALOC.

Second, I actually had to buy two, as the first seller misrepresented the years covered. Fortunately it covered my Nephews engine, so I gave it to him. Both of these were about $10 including shipping.

There are tons of Auctions, just use the usual ebay common sense.

If you need more direction, just reply to this thread..............

The fill cap would have hex/slotscrew. Maybe yellow or black plastic.

I guess that was kinda what I was saying

The thing is.........She should have a manual regardless..........

Didn't know Mariners were made by different companies. I thought they were Mercs exclusively.

Merc, Yamaha, Tohatsu, they are like the AMC of the outboard world. I would be happy to try to help if I had more details.
