My GW and it's predecssor both have Flo-scans. Want to put one on the new boat, anybody have any problems with the Navman, gotta think about it at 1/2 the price
seacat; It appears you can tell it howmuch fuel you have when its full, so it acts like a digital fuel gauge too?
Yes. The Navman 2100 lets you set a tank capacity. Then you can have it show either gallons remaining or gallons burned as well as instantaneous fuel flow in gph.
You calibrate the unit by filling up the tank, running the boat till you have burned a fair amount of fuel (I did 50 gals) then fill it back up noting the exact quantity required to. Then you enter this number in a calibration menu item.
I installed the 2100 last summer and the thing is great. No more guessing if your guage is working or not. Shows realtime fuel usage also so with slight adjustments you can save on petro!
Not that I've owned a lot of boats, but I won't own another without one!!
Goy the fuel flow addition running through my Navman 5500 chartplotter...works great and is accurate....VERY easy to install...only complaint is that the sender and cable are one piece....if you have to replace the sender you will have to run the new wire to the helm....would be nice to have a plug in connection at the sender. I have a question for those who've installed the Navman unit. My understanding is that the transducer must go between the fuel/water separator and the engine. Did you have to cut the fuel line to install the ducer between the 2 ends? Or do you disconnect the fuel line from the racor and then install the ducer to the racor and the fuel line? Just trying to picture how this works in my mind.
I have the Nav-Man for 3 years now and love it, as others have said wont own another boat without it. I cut my fuel like and the Navman acts as a passthrough so you don't need any additional fuel lines or anything. Very easy unit to install.

I cut the fuel line, inserted the Navman transducer and clamped it off with those expensive Swedish SS Screw clamps. Pick your spot carefully first. The transducer should be installed vertically to prevent the accumulation of air and it should be secured to something to prevent it from stressing the fuel lines.
there was a thread on this recently and I think it said as long as there is no fuel return line then the Navman will work. I would call Navman tech support to make sure.
Just put the navman 2100 on my Kencraft challanger 206 with 200 optimax! Although the opti is great on gas, i want to know how much i am burning and whats left in the tank. Looks like this is good equipment. Very good how to install directions. One thing i heard was not to put 90 degree elbows in fuel line use loops instead. I put a Mercury gas/water filter in before the navman. I am wondering how long untill the navman's filter gets clogged? Cant compare to any other brand but if it does what it says and lasts 5 years or more its well worth the cost. Ill have more to say about it after a few months use.

What do you mean by "navman's filter"?
Mine only had a transducer.
I have the Standard fuel totalizer ( same as the NAVMAN). The transducer should be installed after the on board filter and in the vertical postion. You probablay will have to cut the fuel line.
I did not use the plastice hose clamps that came with it. I used small SS hose clamps doubled on either side.
As far as EFI outboards it's okay since there is no return line on an EFI outboard.
