26' Twin Vee Center Console, Suzuki 175DF prop selection
I would appreciate any insight that owners of this boat might have about prop selection. I currently run Power Tech 14" diameter, 24 pitch three bladed props on my 2006 boat. They slip significantly in the mid range and badly in the high range. Twin Vee (who shipped the boat with these props in 2006) now recommends a 4 bladed prop. I really don't care much about hole shot or top end. What I am looking for is optimal fuel economy at a cruise speed of 30 MPH.
Insight from anyone with direct experience with this setup would be greatly appreciated.
RE: 26' Twin Vee Center Console, Suzuki 175DF prop selection
I had the 3 blade 20 pitch suz props on my DF140's, ran the numbers and with a heavy dive load had 17% slip and lots of cavitation. Went to 4 blade PT's and slip went to 8%. 30MPH @ 4300, 2MPG, WOT 5800. Talk with Bill at PowerTech. If I could get that performance out of 140's you should be able to match or beat my fuel burn with the 175's, and have power to spare. In fact, please keep in touch so I can find out how this works out for you, as I have considered repowering with 175's and would like to know if its worth doing.l

Ranger1/No Regrets: Looking very seriously at 2005 26 foot TV with the twin 140's so I'm interested in this thread...would appreciate any Pros/Cons on the boat, engines (140's enough for full load with 4 people) and any issues with the 2005 year, etc...Any comments would be great...thanks!
