Default 5.7 Mercruiser Nuetral safety switch location?

Could someone please tell me where the nuetral safety switch is located on a 1997 Trophy 2352 boat with a 5.7 Mercruiser. Is the switch in the quicksilver shifter housing? Or is it in the engine compartment somewhere? Maybe a bracket on a riser? The local dealer I cant order one anymore due to being discontinued. I would like to find it to see if I could match it up somewhere.

Nuetral safety switch should be located in the shifter housing. Engine compartment has a shift interrupt on the shift plate.

To continue with what Brian said. Problems with the neutral safety switch will keep the motor from cranking. Problems with the shift interrupter switch will keep it from running.

It is a limit switch inside the binnacle. You can always bypass it (not reccommended) by butt splicing the 2 yellow w/red stripe wires coming out of your engine harness.
