Default Cummings Electronic Diesels

I am looking at a Cabo with 5.9 QSB electronic diesels. I have always had center consoles and I am not that familiar with diesel engines. Is this a good product?

The 5.9 is a great engine, its be around for a very long time. The only issue i have with them is that the electronic engines-Q-series have rating to high for long durability of the engine. Up to 380hp model they are great but i would shy away from the 425hp, 440hp, and 480hp. This is a case where the C series engines should have been used but instead they cranked up the B series

I like this engine, but also the drive by wire control box. Very, very smooth shifts make docking very easy.

I like them, but any diesel makes me nervous as the hp begins to overtake displacement. That 5.9 (360 cu in) has been around for a long time. Also - there's no "g" in Cummins - it's named after Clessie Cummins.

What Ramdriver said. At the risk of starting a diesel brand war, Cummins common rail/electronic diesels are the class of the marine diesel industry in that size, especially when it comes to reliability and product support in the U.S. Stay away from the tuned-up models. I have C series 540 HP and have been very happy with them - quiet, clean and consistently efficient from 70% - 90% of WOT.
