hard to start hot Mercruiser 4.3

I have a 198 4.3 mecruiser that winds over for a long time before stating if it has been up to operating temp then left sitting for a couple of hours.It would indicate to me it is vabourising the fuel out of the carbourator. Any one else had this problem and if so how did youfix it.
