Default Fishing Islamorada in November?

Will be in Islamorada (coming from California) mid November for a few days for a family reunion. I'd like to ditch the fam and take a 1/2 day fish trip nearshore/offshore.
I've checked the web and very few post the rates and what fish are around and in season The ones I did see were around $450 for a 1/2 day. Seems high.
Any reccomondations? What about just walking the docks in the AM and talking to some Skippers?
Appreciate any help.
Thanks
Greggo

If you are going to walk the docks I would go midday or afternoon and see who is available for the following day. Not familiar with that area, did you try the regional forum?

Just call up Bud and Marys Marina, they will hook you up with all your needs. Check out the bluewater predater charter boat. I have always caught good fish with Capt. Wampler

$450 seems very low since I believe Capt Augie Wampler charges ~$1200 per day.
1/2 days are NOT half price. Probably 800-900.I have known him since he was 8 years old.
Big Charter boats don't run on salt water. They pay a premium for fuel and I would say Predator may get 1.3 mpg.
He can take 6.

November is good fishing. It is a mixed bag, depending early or late Nov.
First cold fronts come down late Oct or early Nov.

His brother is Zachary.

Call your CA charter boats and see what they charge.

Let me know if it is just you that wants to go or others also.

There are smaller boats for the ocean, 2 pax flats boats, or
Capt Michael head boat at Robbies Marina, one of the cheapest price.
for outer reef fishing.

Guys thanks for the comeback. I should have said i'm just looking to fill in a spot on a boat, not charter the whole boat. Although I really don't want to jump on a "cow boat" with 45 others.
I guess I'm looking to fill in a spot on a 6 pack or maybe a load maxed at 12 or so.
Here you would pay $170 for a Albacore trip out 50 miles on a 6 pack. Although since I have a boat I haven't had to pay a Captain to fish in years.
Anyway just want to find a soft load of anglers on a decent boat for a 1/2 day and catch some Dorado, Grouper or Snapper to take back to the vacation house for a feast.
Thanks Ralphy for the PM!

one more vote for the Predator and capt. Augie Wampler. Was out there early february, chartered half day. Caught a nice sail fish on light takle off aligator reef and a whole load of yellowtails that the capt. filetted for us at the dock. we had the hotel prepare them for us for dinner. great time, i'll be a repeat customer in feb. 09!!

whatever boat/capt u choose, u gotta feed the gulls/pellicans the left over ballyhoo when u get back to the docks, thats always fun... LOL

i had pics somewhere can't find them now though...its late!!

The way this storm looks Islamorada may not exist in November. It looks like a cat 4 direct hit.
