Default Batteries for a 225hp Yamaha

I have a single 225 Hp Yamaha 1996 engine on my 23 ft Contender. It has a dual battery set up and currently has one battery that is 525 CCA and the other battery is 825 CCA. Of course the larger battery has a crack so I must replace it. Does anyone know what would be the best batteries CCA to get? The batteries that are in the boat were with it when I purchased it.

The starting battery minimum is 512 CCA, with a 182 minute reserve capacity. I suspect your smaller battery is your engin (starter) battery and the bigger one is your house (electronics, livewell, etc) battery. If that's the case you can replace the house battery with a group 31 deep cycle battery.

don't screw around with "just enuf" ...get some good big MCA batts and keep em charged when you're not using the boat - the best value out there now is the Sears AGM batt made by Odyssey..will last 5 years and you can't kill em...Odyssey is what Yellowfin uses standard...

if you don't want to spend that kind of money get a delco Voyager and mainitain them...
