Just thought I would share with everyone a pic of my new rig. Its name will be "Gettin Betta" !! I am picking it up this weekend and I am about to go nuts wanting to dive in and start installing all of my electronics that I have been collecting. (big pile in my shop) Anyway, as you can prob tell, I'm excited and ready to get started. I will be keeing the boat in the Orange Beach Alabama area during the late spring and summer months. I built a covered storage area (14x31) to keep it at home during the winter and it will allow me to visit lakes here in Ga. that are great Striper fisheries!!
First time on the water, my sea trial!! The prev owner allowed me to drive it on the trailer the first time and nailed it on the first try!!
Oops almost forgot....Here is what I am installing in it when I get home with it.
Installing a Raymarine SL70CRC C-Map with a 4kw dome, ST 6001 S1G Autopilot, Furuno 600L Color Bottom unit, Raymaring 45 VHF and Antenna, JBL AM/FM/CD player with XM Satalite radio and speakers to go with it. Also, upgrading to 4 deepcycle batteries instead of two.
For backup, I will have a Standard Horision 150 GPS and an Icom VHF in the electronic's box along with the CD player
And another thing, just to let everyone know, I actually found this boat on THIS forum!! Now that I have my wheel, I feel a part of the family and not an outsider. I really enjoy and appreciate everyone's imput and info they have provided me in that past. As I learn more, I will share my experences with newcommers and old alike. I know that the welth of information that can be found here is second to none and I will try and do my best to help anyone I can.
Beautiful boat Gary and Congratulations! Many happy years on your new rig and may she bring you back home safe everytime. That would certainly be on my short list of boats if I was in the market.
After the weather that we had up here in the NE for the past few days it's nice to see green even if it is in a pic, congrats on the wheel and the new boat.
That trailer its sitting on is pretty nice too. Did you get it with the boat?
Thats a 2003 Owens and Sons Custom Slide On trailer. The boat was kept high and dry for most of its life until the prev owner decided to sell her. Owen and Sons are out of St. Petersberg Fla.. I feel very lucky to have a great trailer to go along with my rig. My parents live in Hilton Head Island SC and want me to keep it there some summers so I can enjoy having them along with me fishing and crusing!! Here is a link to them......
Gary, awsome looking rig. I have been looking at the same boat that is a 2003 left over and wondering if you know any performance numbers, especially fuel consumption. Also what are you towing with and do you know total weight? My truck is rated for 9000 lbs and I believe that it would be close if not over that. Thanks for the replies and enjoy your new boat. I'm sure your not sleeping at night.
