This is the part number on the compressor on my 225 Optimax (serial number OT701465) that was replaced about 150 hours ago. It just failed. I contacted Mercury and they are telling me that part number was never supposed to be on my engine but they say it has been deleted from their system and cant tell me what engine it was for. I am trying to find out if I had the wrong compressor on my motor. It only lasted about 150-200 hours and the mechanic who replaced it died last week. I am wondering if he put the compressor for a 175 or 200 on it????????
Any help....greatly appreciated.
Are you sure it isn't a T30? If so, that compressor is for a 200-250 Optimax and has since been superceded to T32. The 2.5 Liter engines have a completely different part number than the 3.0 Liter engines.
Nope...it says A30. I pulled it apart today. Piston skirt broke. No signs of oil starvation or heat. wrist pin look perfect even though half the piston around it was missing. Removed and cleaned fuel rails and I am sending the air injectors out to be checked. Looks like some fine metal particals made it past the rings. Pics later...

I know on OMC the part number stamped or written on the part is not always the actual number that is on the box when you buy it. May be the case here. If it just superceeded Merc should have been able to tell you.
That number does not show up on the supercession list or in the parts price book and parts catalog...maybe this was a test unit? Shows up on Merc Net as NLA (no longer available) with no superceded part numbers.
